Last month, Erika and Thomas were hit with a federal lawsuit accusing them of embezzling $2 million dollars from his clients. The class action law firm Edelson PC filed the suit on behalf of family members of plane crash victims.
Thomas represented the families in a lawsuit but reportedly never paid out the settlement funds to them. They believe Thomas had been directly millions to Erika's company for some time.
The suit said another creditor found evidence, "that demonstrate that Girardi has been using Girardi Keese funds to “loan” over $20 million dollars to his wife’s company, EJ Global.
Recently, Thomas was found in civil contempt of court for failing to inform the judge where the millions went. The court referred the matter for possible criminal investigation.
