Jennifer Lopez, Yankees’ Alex Rodriguez’s ex-fiancee, serenades Ben Affleck with Red Sox anthem - NJ.com

This could be something, or it could be nothing. It just depends on how much you want to read into things.

The New York Post’s Page Six reports that on Sunday, Jennifer Lopez sang Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline” to pay tribute to her mother during the Global Citizen’s “Vax Live: The Concert to Reunite the World.”

There’s just one catch. Among those in attendance for the performance was Ben Affleck. Affleck, as you know, is a devoted Boston Red Sox fan. And “Sweet Caroline” is the unofficial Red Sox anthem, played during the 8th inning of games at Fenway Park.

Why does any of that matter?

Last week, Page Six reported Lopez had been seen hanging out with Affleck less than two weeks after officially splitting from former New York Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez.

However Page Six reported the reunion between Lopez and Affleck, who were engaged from 2002 to 2004, was “just friendly.”

News of the Bennifer reunion came just days after US Weekly reported Rodriguez is hoping for one more turn at the plate with Lopez.

“A-Rod will not give up on his and J. Lo’s relationship,” a source tells Us Weekly exclusively. “He is willing to do anything to make it work.”

But according to US Weekly, “J. Lo still doesn’t trust A-Rod all the way. She’s very skeptical, but she heard him out because she still has a lot of love for him.”

The now-ex couple, engaged since 2019, officially announced the end of their relationship on April 15 with a statement provided to the “Today” show:

We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so. We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects. We wish the best for each other and one another’s children. Out of respect for them, the only other comment we have to say is thank you to everyone who has sent kind words and support.

Despite that announcement, Page Six reported Rodriguez and Lopez had dinner more than a week ago at the Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles.

It’s the same ritzy restaurant where they went on their first date back in 2017. Lopez also reportedly owns a $28 million mansion in the neighborhood. ... It’s unclear what the friendly Oscar weekend dinner was about. ... Insiders said the pair was amicable during the meeting and “there still seemed to be love and respect there.”

And how’s this for irony? Page Six reported that’s the same hotel Affleck used last week as home base while visiting Lopez.
